From today, you could reserve a packaged DVD of the new Windows 8 Pro version as an upgrade for $69.99 USD from retailers around the US. Users who wish to upgrade using windows 8 upgrade assistant, could wait till October 26th, when windows 8 would be made available via Windows.com for $39.99 USD.

Consumers could also place the Windows 8 Pro order from Trusted OEM partners such as ASUSDellAcerSony etc.

These OEM  partners have build more than 800 different windows 8 certified devices already.

Windows DVD upgrade package comes in five different designed covers though they are made for the same Windows 8 Pro version.

Customers in the U.S could avail this offer via your local retailers and also via Amazon.com, Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot & Microsoft Store.

Users who purchase an eligible windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 would be able to upgrade to windows 8 Pro for just $14.99 USD starting from October 26th on-wards. 

1) Who all could upgrade to Windows 8 Pro ?

Users who run the genuine version of Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 are eligible for the windows upgrade for the aforementioned price.

2) I’m from outside US, does the upgrade made available today, support my language ?

No. The online upgrade (from October 26th) of windows 8 pro would support 23 currencies, 37 languages and would be available for 140 countries worldwide.

3) How many Windows 8 licenses you could avail as an upgrade ?

The offer limits the number of licenses up to 5 per customer.

Microsoft states that the upgrade offer including the packaged DVD and online version for Windows 8 Pro would be made available till January 31st, 2013. So, make sure you upgrade your systems sooner or before the date.

The pricing could have minor variations when you purchase windows from independent re-sellers as various factors such as exchange rate, duties, local taxes get added up with the price.
