Every person at one time or another finds themselves in the situation in which he/she needs to get information from the internet fast but cannot find the needed info. Most of the times this info is in PDF files that you may not find easily by normal search. So why not just search for the PDF files instead.

>To do so just add “pdf” or “filetype:pdf” after your search topic.

>Press Enter or Click search

>You will be able to see [PDF] before the results, this means that the link will lead you to a PDF file.

>If the “quick view” option is there after the result, it means you can preview the PDF file using Google Docs before downloading it.The PDF will be opened for preview in a separate window.

Now you can get what you need quickly without going through multiple results which provide none of the info that you are searching for.

How To Update Google Chrome Portable Version Easily

In my pc i have two versions of google chrome installed, a normal version and the portable version. Most often i use the portable version of google chrome since its is easy to carry on my USB drive and i can use it any pc. But the only problem with the portable Google Chrome is that it does’t have the ability to update by itself. It gives the “update server not available error(1)” when i try to check for updates by taking the “About Google Chrome” Option. The new updates are very important to get new features and fixes. So here’s how i updated my version of Google Chrome Portable.

1) First download the Google Chrome Setup file. Usually when you download the setup file from google chrome’s website, the installation automatically begins, so we can’t get the set up file back. So download the latest google chrome version from softpedia. Just google “Google Chrome + Softpedia” or visit this page to directly get the individual setup file of latest google chrome build.

2) Now Right Click the Chrome Setup File and Choose Extract using any file compression tool like winrar or 7-zip.

3) Now Open the extracted folder and you will see another compressed rar file called chrome.rar. Extract that file too. Now open the extracted “Chrome” folder to see a folder called Chrome bin.

4) Now open the “Chromebin” folder and copy all the files.

5) Navigate to the Portable Chrome Folder, “GoogleChromePortableDev\App\Chrome-bin”. That was the folder in my case, but it might vary some times, so all you need to do is to find the “chrome-bin “ folder inside the portable chrome directory.

6) Paste and replace the files in this directory existing once windows asks.

7) Now just open your portable Google Chrome Browser and check the version and it will be updated!

How To Recover Your Google Account When its Not Accessible

Google Account contains most of the important online services that we use. It can be gmail, blogger, orkut etc. All of these can contain vital information about us. Imagine losing these private information, all your photos and gmail contacts one day just by forgetting the google account password, due to a hacking attempt or by forgetting the related email address. There’s only a little to panic in such a case because we can recover the google account back by following some simple steps. This has once happened to me too. First of all let me tell you, “Do not do Any thing in a Hurry!” Think atleast 3 times before you do any thing in this situation.

Recovering Google Account When You Forget the Password

Here is what you have to do in case you google account password is lost.

Case 1) #You have access to the secondary email address you have set

When you have access to the secondary email address you have set in your google account, and you cant login to your current google account.

Before going with the password reset process you can try using a tool called Google Password Decrypter which retrieves the google account user name and passwords stored in applications such as Google Talk, Google Picasa, Google Desktop Search, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome.

Visit The Google Account Password Reset Link and enter your email address and click submit. You will receive the password reset assistance mail in your secondary email address. Now just login to the secondary email account and click the link to reset the google account password and you can recover your google account back.

Case 2) #You don’t remember your secondary email address, it had got expired or you cant access that too

In such a scenario, a security question will be asked and you have to provide the answer to the question to proceed with the password recovery process.

Case 3) #You have forgotten the answer to the security question

In this situation google wont have any way to verify your identity, so the only way is to fill up this form.

Make your best guess on dates if you’re not sure about them and try to include as much information as you can.

Case 4) #Hacked Google Accounts Not Linked to Gmail

If your Google Account doesn’t use a Gmail address, contact Google by filling this form. This could help in bringing back your Google Account if you scrupulously preserve all your old emails.

If you feel that your account has been hacked by some one there is nothing to panic.

When your gmail account is hacked, most probably the hacker will be wise enough to change your secondary email address too. Google SSL Secure Search

Google has released their new ssl web search to their users. The new SSL search from google gives more privacy to its users by preventing third parties from accessing your search terms. Though the Google Secure Search is in beta state, users can access it by adding a “s” after the “http” in your address bar when visiting google ie. https://www.google.com.

Https is widely used by shopping websites, banking websites and others who include secure information’s such as login details, credit card details etc. This will ensure that the information wont be accessed by any other intruders and there by protecting your information.

When you access the google secure search, you can check the start of the address bar for a https. But the ssl search is in beta state and it includes only the core google search. So dont think that it will cover the googe image search, video search etc.

To distinguish between the normal google search page and the secure version of the search page, google had made a small modification which you can see in their logo itself.

Since SSL connections need a little more time than the usual http connections, you will notice a small time lag in search speed. But what you wont lose is the same great search results!

Remember, google ssl search wont prevent your search queries from being collected by google. It only prevent those from being collected by your ISP’s and other third party network. Also the search information can be obtained by the government in case needed.

How To SETUP & USE Google Public DNS

You might have heard about the open dns service which gave more security and more speed while browsing the web. Now Google too has come up with their new Google Public DNS. This service gives you more speed while browsing and also protects you from DNS spoofing attacks and from various other security threats. This one too look promising like the open dns.

As web pages become more complex and include more resources from multiple origin domains, clients need to perform multiple DNS lookups to render a single page.

How To Set Up and Use Google Public DNS

The average Internet user performs hundreds of DNS lookups each day, slowing down his or her browsing experience. As the web continues to grow, greater load is placed on existing DNS infrastructure.DNS lookups can become a significant bottleneck in the browsing experience. Whenever a client needs to query a DNS resolver over the network, the latency introduced can be significant, depending on the proximity and number of nameservers the resolver has to query (more than 2 is rare, but it can happen).

How to Change DNS Server to Google Public DNS in Windows XP, Vista and 7

Go the Control Panel.Click Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, then Manage network connections.
Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. For example: To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, right-click Local Area Connection, and click Properties.
To change the settings for a wireless connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and click Properties.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Select the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) (In Windows Vista and 7), and then click Properties.

Xp users just need to take the Open Internet Protocol TCP/IP Settings.

Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. Select Use the following DNS server addresses.
Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
Restart the connection you selected in step 3.

Setting Google Public DNS in Mac OSX

From the Apple menu, click System Preferences, then click Network. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. For example:
To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, select Built-In Ethernet, and click Advanced.
To change the settings for a wireless connection, select Airport, and click Advanced. Select the DNS tab.
Click + to replace any listed addresses with, or add, the Google IP addresses at the top of the list: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Click Apply and OK.

The Browser Itself is the Interface :If you have used the Google Chrome browser before, you wont feel anything new when you first take a glimpse on the new operating system this is because the browser is the primary interface of the operating system. Unlike Windows, Mac and Linux you don’t have a separate desktop, file explorer etc for Chrome OS. However you can open up multiple windows some thing like multiple desktops and switch between them is some what similar to the windows 7′s Alt+Tab feature with the live preview.

Designed For Security: One of the main problem’s faced by the computer users today, are the viruses, spywares etc. You need an antivirus software in operating systems like windows but in chrome os you dont need such a thing because the OS is designed for security. Moreover the Chrome OS is intelligent enough to verify its own code and reboots the system and fix by itself, if it finds any issues with it.
The Operating system will be always upto date. It wont give you a choice to turn on/off automatic updates. The OS automatically updates itself when required.

When you want to quickly work with your pc you need to wait up for at least 30 seconds or more to start working with. They are so obsessed with it that they’re asking the hardware manufacturers to use specific materials just for speeding things up.

Every Thing is the Web and No App Installations: This is some thing that can make many people hate it. There wont be any software installations like in the other operating systems. There wont be any Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Adobe AIR. Instead every thing will be web apps. However there will be support for plugin/extensions support like in the Chrome Browser.

Chrome OS is Free to Use (Open Source): Like the linux operating systems chrome os will be open source. People are free to modify the code to suit their requirements and for now they can contribute the submissions back to the project.

No More Driver Supports: According to Google the new os is going to support only specific platforms. No more moving parts will be used. That means it wont run on regular PC’s with physical hard drives, it needs SSDs. There will be specific requirements like screen sizes, full sized keyboards, above average touchpads etc.

According to Google the new Os is expected to ship in about a year. The Google Chrome Os will be great for Netbooks but not for the desktops.

How To Find Similar Images with Certain Colors

There can be many reasons for you to search for images in google. It wont be hard to find the desired images these days, as google has a plenty of search filters that will narrow down your search to pin point to right the image. Searching images will be a lot more easier if you can find similar images having a particular color. Lets see how you can do that by making a small tweaking in the google url.

The Search Options/ Search Filters aren’t displayed directly in the user interface of the search page. So here is how.Suppose you want to search for fruits and you have made a search for the term You like to have the images of red colored fruits like cherry, strawberry etc. So, Instead of thinking what are red fruits are there and searching them separately one by one, just add &imgcolor=red to the end of the url in the address bar of your browser so that it looks like this http://images.google.com/images?q=fruits&imgcolor=red and press [Enter].

You can replace red with with “blue”, “green”, “orange”, “purple”, “yellow”, “white”, “teal”, “gray”, “pink”, “black” and “brown” as per your needs.

Find Invisible Users in GTalk – The Simplest Way

Google Talk or Gtalk is among the most used instant messengers or IM’s in the world. People use gtalk for many reasons. Google has added the invisible mode feature to gtalk recently and it help us to be away from distractions and we can choose the people to whom we want to talk to. This is really a useful feature, but when we need to tell some thing that is so important (assuming he might not check the emails frequently) to our friend who is online, it becomes a problem. He might be available online but will be staying invisible to us. So here is how you can check whether a user is invisible on gtalk.

There is an easy way in gtalk itself that can be used to check whether a user is invisible.

First tick the option chat off the record.
In gmail’s inbuilt chat feature, Click the down arrow at the top-right corner of the chat window and choose Go off the record.
You will see a message saying You are now off the record after that.
I gtalk go to Settings > chat, and tick, don’t save my chat history in my gmail account.
Note : This should be done when he/she is online.

When ever you need to check whether this user is offline or invisible, just send him/her a message.
If the user is offline (not online). Then you will receive a message in red colour saying
did not receive your chat
.
But if the user is actually online (invisible) you wont receive this message in red colour, which means that the user has received your chat message.

Now go ahead find out the users who become stay invisible in gtalk.

Change Fonts in Google Adsense Ads (New Feature!!!!) / Use different Fonts in Adsense Ads

Adsense have been experimenting with different types of Fonts in the Google Adsense ads for the last few months. But the users were not allowed to change the fonts and use them as per their wish. Now there google has presented its adsense publishers an option to change the default fonts……

The default Standard Adsense font family will be applied by default. You can customize each ad unit separately or there is an option called Ad Display Preferences (seen under fonts) which allows you to apply one setting to all the ad units you are using in your website.

To change the fonts in Google Adsense ads : Go to Adsense Setup > Manage Ads. Now select the ad unit in which you want to use a different font and save the changes.Presently Adsense have provided only three type of fonts Arial, Times and Verdana.

Changing the fonts will make the Adsense ads get blend more with your website content.
